Happy Birthday, Pops:

Today is my Dad’s 51st birthday (at least I hope it’s his 51st otherwise I’m a horrible daughter). He’s the best dad anyone could ever ask for. Like, this week I got a mysterious package in the mail from him, and it ended up being a giant book full of amazing and inspring design by one of the designers from AdBusters (which he got me a subscription to for Christmas). No matter what I choose to do with my life, he supports me 100%, which is really pretty great. I hate winter and snow, but instead of going somewhere warm and sunny for spring break, I’m heading home to the UP because I miss him (and my cat) too much. So, happy 51st Daddy! Here’s a little summer sunshine at the cottage, since I know how grey it must be back home. Wow, you’re getting old. Especially since you’re youngest WILL BE 20 THIS YEAR :)

  1. Hey Mads —
That may be the sweetest thing anyone’s ever told me. Thank you so much for dedicating today’s blog to me, sweetie. There never was a more wonderful and beautiful and talented dottir.

We’re anxious to see you guys for “Spring” Break. If you were worried about having enough snow … don’t be. We’ve had about 3 feet in the last week … the road has snow banks and drifts over 7 feet high … you might have to snowshoe in from the highway.

I love the picture of the cottage. It’s like a big bubble of summertime. I can feel the warm and hear the waves crashing on the beach and the seagulls squawking overhead. You and Nana are playing Bananagrams at the table at the big front window, but Nana’s also cooking something for supper at the same time. The scene today would be quite different … replace the luscious green and blue with white and shades of gray and gloom.

Love you and miss you lots!

    (and no, I didn’t think you’d forget)

    Daddy
